Visa eGift Card Details

The Visa eGift Card is a prepaid card that can be added to a mobile wallet and used for purchases of goods and services, where prepaid VISA Gift Cards are accepted and processed electronically (excluding cash and cash equivalent transactions at ATM’s, over the counter at Financial Institutions, transactions at the Australian Tax Office (ATO) and merchants and merchant groups who elect not to accept VISA prepaid cards.

Already an Activ Visa® Cardholder?

You can check your Gift Card balance at www.Activ™giftcard.com.au by selecting ‘Card Balance’ from this website’s navigation menu or by calling 1800 985 841.  You will then be prompted to enter the card number, expiry, and 3-digit code (CVV2). The search will display the available balance, expiry date, and a summary of recent transactions.

How do I add my Visa eGift Card to my mobile wallet?

After the card has been activated in store, gently remove the foil scratch panel to reveal a QR code inside the Visa eGift Card carrier.

1) Scan the QR code

  1. Simply scan QR code inside the carrier with the camera on your mobile device and follow the prompts. This will launch the ‘My Card Wallet’ app (available from the Apple and Google app stores)

2) Download the My Card Wallet app

  1. Install the My Card Wallet app from IOS or Google Play to view your card details (for shopping online), to keep track of your card balance and transaction details and to add the card to your mobile wallet.

3) Start spending instantly

  1. Your card is now ready to use online or in-store with tap to pay convenience.

I’ve been given an Activ Visa® Prepaid Card, how does it work?

To add a new QR code-based Visa eGift to your mobile wallet, follow the steps on your eGift package. Limit one device per eGift.

  • Scan the QR code
    1. Simply scan QR code inside the carrier, this launches ‘app clip’ process with ‘My Card Wallet’ app (available in Apple and Google app stores)
  • Download the My Card Wallet app
    1. Install the My Card Wallet app from IOS or Google Play to view your card details and add it to your digital wallet.

    1. Your card is now ready to use online or in-store with tap to pay convenience.

My Visa eGift Card won’t add to my mobile wallet?

Mobile wallets have a number of security rules in place which may limit, or restrict cards from being added to their digital wallets. Unfortunately when this occurs, the card will not be able to be added to a mobile wallet but you can continue to use the funds available on the card online (with the card number, CVV and expiry date found in the My Card Wallet app)

 

How do I check the balance of my Visa eGift Card?

You can keep track of your cards balance, expiry date and transaction history via the My Card Wallet app, simply log in using the same ID (apple or google) which you first used with the card. If you still have the product packaging, you can scan the QR code with the camera on your mobile device and follow the prompts to see the card within the My Card Wallet app.

Can I use my Activ Visa® Gift Card for recurring payments?

My Card Wallet lets you.

  • See Card number/expiry / CVV2 for online purchase
  • Push card into Apple, Google, or Samsung Wallets to make in-store purchases

Why should I keep my Physical Activ™ Visa Gift Card after adding it to my mobile wallet?

Don’t throw away your card after adding to your mobile wallet; you will need your card (and card details) to:

  • Check Your Balance – You’ll need the card number and CVV to view your remaining balance online, plus review your transaction history
  • Shop online – you will need the card number, CVV, and expiry date to complete a purchase at merchants that don’t offer Apple or Google Pay online

Why Can’t I Add My Activ™ Physical Visa Gift Card to My Mobile Wallet?

If you are having trouble adding your Activ™ Visa Gift Card to a mobile wallet:

  1. Check that the operating system on your mobile device is up to date
  2. If adding a physical card to a mobile wallet, ensure that you have registered your card before attempting to add it to the wallet – you can register your card here
  3. Ensure that the name you enter as the cardholder name on your mobile wallet matches that which you registered the card with
  4. Check that you are entering to correct expiry date and card CVV

Mobile wallets (Apple, Google, and Samsung Pay) have their own security systems and rules that may prevent a prepaid card from being added to wallet (or multiple cards). In this scenario, the mobile wallet provider will not provide reasons why to Activ™ Visa as it may relate to your personal data that the mobile wallet provider holds on you. You should contact your wallet provider for further assistance.

How Many Cards Can I Add to Apple Wallet on My iPhone?

The number of cards you can add to Apple Wallet depends on your iPhone model and iOS version however you can only add the same card to one device.

Does My iPhone Version Affect Adding an Activ™ Physical Visa Gift Card to Apple Wallet?

Yes, your iPhone version can impact wallet compatibility:

  • Older iPhones may not support Apple Wallet or lack the necessary security features.
  • Outdated iOS versions might prevent successful card setup—ensure your device is running the latest iOS.
  • Wallet App Updates are also essential for compatibility with newer card types.

Note: Even with a compatible device, some prepaid cards—including Activ™ Physical Visa Gift Cards—may not be supported due to issuer restrictions.

What Should I Do If I Have a Problem Adding My Activ™ Physical Visa Gift Card to Apple Wallet?

If you’re having trouble, try the following steps:

What happens if an item was purchased with the Activ™ Gift Card and needs to be returned?

Each merchant will handle returns as per their own policies and may issue a cash refund or store credit. A merchant may also choose to return the refund amount onto the card.

Are there any fees for using the Activ™ Gift Card or checking the Gift Card balance or transaction history?

There are no fees associated with checking card balance or transaction history.

A Currency Conversion fee of 3.5% applies for foreign currency transactions. This conversion fee amount is calculated at time of purchase, and the balance of your card must be sufficient to cover both the purchase and currency conversion fee..

What happens if I lose my Activ™ Gift Card, or it is stolen?

We encourage card holders to register their Activ™ Visa Gift Cards via the website, so in the event that your card is Lost, stolen or damaged, our team can see what options are available for you. Without a card number, we are unable to assist in locating any details of your card. Expired Gift Cards cannot be replaced or refunded. Please refer to the terms and conditions.

What if the value of the purchase I want to make is greater than the value/balance on the Activ™ Gift Card?

In-store purchases: If your purchase is larger than your balance, ask the cashier to swipe the gift card for the exact amount available on the card. Then pay the remaining balance with another form of payment. These are called “split transactions.” Some merchants do not allow cardholders to carry out split transactions. Some merchants will only allow you to do a split transaction if you pay the remaining amount in cash.

Online purchases:  Online merchants don’t have the capabilities to perform split credit transactions

Do I receive change on an Activ™ Gift Card transaction?

No.  The Gift Card can be used until the balance reaches a nil value, no matter how small the balance.

What happens if I have not used all the funds when the Activ™ Gift Card expires?

Whatever value is left on the Gift Card after its expiry will not be available to you. We encourage you to use your Gift Card before it expires.

Does Activ™ Gift Cards expire?

Yes, on your physical card the expiry is printed of the front of the card. eGift cards expire 3 years from date of purchase.

Can Activ™ Gift Card be reloaded with value?

No, these Gift Cards cannot be re-loaded.

Do I have to spend the entire amount of the Activ™ Gift Card in a single purchase?

No. Gift Cards are partially redeemable.  Within the Gift Card’s validity period, any available balance can be used for multiple purchases at any participating merchant.

Can I see a list of transactions made with the Activ™ Gift Card?

Yes, you can view your Gift Card balance and transaction history at www.myprepaidcentre.com.au

How can I check the Activ™ Gift Card available balance?

You can check your Gift Card balance at www.Activ™giftcard.com.au by selecting ‘Card Balance’ from this website’s navigation menu or by calling 1800 985 841.  You will then be prompted to enter the PCN Number located on the back of the Gift Card.  The resulting search will show the available balance remaining and expiry date, as well as the most recent transaction summary.

Is the balance updated automatically?

Yes. Each time you use an Activ™ Gift Card, the purchase amount is automatically deducted from the Card balance. If the transaction is declined the funds are not deducted as there is not enough balance to allow the transaction to be completed. If not completed already, you can also set up a personal profile to manage multiple Activ™ Gift Cards. To set up a personal profile please visit www.myprepaidcentre.com.au.

Can I use Activ™ Gift Cards to get cash out of the ATM?

No, the Activ™ Gift Cards cannot be used to withdraw cash at ATM or EFTPOS facilities.

Can I set up a profile to manage multiple Activ™ gift cards?

Yes, My Prepaid Centre allows you to create a personal profile to manage multiple Activ™ Gift Cards. To set up a personal profile please visit www.myprepaidcentre.com.au

Do I need to register my Activ™ Digital eGift card to make purchases?

Yes, your Activ™ Digital eGift card must be registered via the registration link on the email you receive to use your Gift Card. You will not be provided with card details until the card has been registered.

When registering your Activ™ Digital eGift Card, we require information, including name, address, telephone number and email address of the cardholder be verified prior to making purchases. To register your Activ™ Digital eGift Card, either click on the ‘Register Card’ link in your email.

Physical cards need to be registered prior to use.

I’m having trouble paying with my Apple, Samsung, or Google mobile wallet, what should I do?

Make sure the card details are correct by double-checking that what you’ve entered exactly matches your card number, expiry date and CVV. If you still can’t complete a contactless payment, try again with the below tips or reach out to the wallet provider directly for further assistance.
i) Make sure your phone is awake and unlocked.
ii) Hold your phone in a different way. Your NFC antenna could be near the top or middle of your device.
iii) Hold your phone closer to the payment reader.
iv) Hold your phone close to the payment reader for a few more seconds.

How do I add my Activ™ Gift Card to my mobile wallet?

Activ™ Gift Cards can be added to your Apple, Samsung, or Google mobile wallet. To add your Activ™ Gift Card to your mobile wallet follow the steps below:

Add your eGift to your Mobile Wallet

  1. Click on the eGift link sent to your email
  2. Fill out the registration form to Activate your eGift
  3. Click on the Add to Wallet
  4. You will be promoted to download My Prepaid Center App if not already installed
  5. Your card has been added to your mobile wallet

Add your Physical Card to your Mobile Wallet

Go to the Wallet app on your mobile device

  1. Click on the plus icon
  2. Select Debit or Credit card on the next screen
  3. Enter your card details
  4. Your card has now been added to your mobile wallet

Apple, Google, and Samsung Wallets have limits to the total number of cards a user can have in their wallet at any one time, and they also have their own security process that may stop a user from being able to add a card to their digital wallet. Activ™ Visa Gift Cards has no discretion on these security controls put in place by Apple, Google, or Samsung Wallets.

 

My Activ™ Gift Card is not working online

Some merchants may choose not to accept prepaid gift cards, Activ™ Gift Cards has no discretion upon any merchant’s decision. Some online merchants that require 3D Secure verification (3DS) will not process the transaction as Visa prepaid gift cards do not support 3DS.

Can Activ™ Gift Cards be used to make purchases online?

Yes, Activ™ Gift Cards can be used online

 Enter the card information (Card number, expiry date and CVV) in the credit/debit card section and please ensure the current balance of the Activ™ Gift Card is enough for the entire purchase as most online merchants cannot accept the combination of an Activ™ Gift Card and a Credit Card.

 

My account has some suspicious Activity recorded in the transaction history, what should I do?

If you notice any suspicious Activities, you can choose to dispute a transaction. To dispute a transaction, you must register your card and complete the dispute form located here.

Can I use my Activ™ Gift Card for reoccurring payments?

A recurring payment is when you provide your card details for an ongoing payment, and a charge is made to that card on a recurring basis (such as a monthly insurance payment, or a monthly gym membership). Visa doesn’t not allow prepaid gift cards to be used for reoccurring payments. Some online merchants may setup their payment type as “reoccurring payment” Activ™ Visa Gift Cards has no discretion on what payment type the merchant selects.

Why was a transaction declined?

There are a few reasons why a transaction might be declined, including:

  • The merchant has elected not to accept prepaid Visa Gift Cards as a method of payment
  • The transaction value is greater than the available balance on your Activ™ Visa Gift Card. It is best to always be aware of your Activ™ Visa Gift Card balance by visiting Activgiftcard.com.au
  • Some countries may have limits and restrictions on accepting prepaid Visa Gift Cards
  • The Activ™ Visa Gift Card has not been ‘Activated’
  • Your Activ™ Visa Gift Card has been suspended or closed, or transactions with a particular merchant have been blocked, due to suspected fraudulent or illegal Activity
  • The Activ™ Visa Gift Card is damaged
  • The Activ™ Visa Gift Card has expired
  • The merchant’s connection to the Visa network is currently unavailable
  • Some Activ™ Visa Gift Cards can only be used at select merchant categories – the merchant you are attempting to redeem your card at may not have a merchant category that works with your card program.

Can I use the Activ™ Visa Gift Card outside of Australia?

Yes. A Currency Conversion fee of 3.5% applies for foreign currency transactions. This conversion fee amount is calculated at time of purchase, and the balance of your card must be sufficient to cover both the purchase and currency conversion fee. Please note that some countries may have limits and restrictions on accepting prepaid Visa gift cards.

Is the physical Card required to be used at the Payment PIN pad to authorise my purchase when using an Activ™ Gift Card?

The retailer must use the PIN pad provided when redeeming an Activ™ Gift Card for goods or services as directed by the POS terminal. If you’ve already added your Activ™ Gift Card to your mobile wallet, then you will not require your physical card.

How do I use my Activ™ Gift Card in-store?

Your Activ™ Gift Card works the same as a Visa debit card. It can be used in-store, online and added to your mobile wallet.

To redeem your Physical Activ™ Gift Card in-store:

  1. Simply present your Activ™ gift card
  2. Swipe your card, select “Credit” and when asked for the PIN, enter the 4-digit PIN that is under the scratch panel on the back of the Gift Card.

If the value of the purchase is more than the amount of the gift card, you can supplement the additional value with cash or another payment method that is accepted by the merchant.

Activ™ Gift Cards can be used where Visa prepaid gift cards are accepted in-store and online. Please note that some merchants may choose not to accept prepaid gift cards, this includes both online and in-store merchants. This is the right of the merchant to make the choice about which cards they do and do not accept. Some online merchants that require 3D Secure verification (3DS) will not process the transaction as Visa prepaid gift cards do not support 3DS.

I have been given an Activ™ Prepaid Gift Card, how does it work?

Activ™ Gift Cards are prepaid gift cards run on the Visa network that carries a certain amount of spending power. Each time the Gift Card is used to make a purchase, that purchase amount is deducted from the Card’s available balance. When the value has been exhausted, it cannot be used for more purchases.
